I really love how you mapped it all out. My eldest has been asking for a return of tea time anyway. I have 2 girls as well and to make special time alone with them... is a fantastic idea. Would he be receptive to a snack time with some prayer and chatting? There are lots of Bible study/devotional books for boys you could go through. Is that something he might be open to? If not, I think that kids that have a hard time opening up do better with an activity. You could work on project that he's interested in (model cars? painting? build something?). Maybe a walk around the neighborhood? Sometimes the best talks happen when I'm just hanging out with my girls, folding laundry or something. And in the car! Maybe just ask him...say, "Hey, I want to hang out with you, but we don't have a ton of money and can't leave home. What do you want to do?" This is a wonderful Idea. I have a special book that I got at a garage sale with Date Ideas, a work book, and CD where mother and daughter go on a date and it ties into concepts from the bible, like modesty or purity. Melanice has really enjoyed these little dates and one on one time with Mom. Being the middle child isnt easy. :) I was wondering if you had an idea like this for boys? I think Austin could really benefit from something like this. It seems I try and keep my mouth shut around him unless its a simple instruction like please do your chores so as not to overwhelm him or spur him off . But he could use some time to just enjoy being w/ mom. IM not so sure tea would work, and I cant bond over football like Daddy can. Once in a while I do take him on a "DATE" and we talk about what to do with a date. But that costs money and leaves the younger kids at home.
