Lose 10 pounds in 21 Days

Is it possible?

I need to lose ten pounds. I’ve done pretty well this year with weight loss on a clinical program, but after my surgery, I’ve gained a couple pounds. Before my surgery, I only needed to lose five. Being unable to workout for a couple months didn’t help, but then again lying in bed with Ben and you-know-who day after day probably didn’t help either.

By the way, if your whole life doesn’t revolve around food and you didn’t get that last statement, I’m talking ice cream. Ben is partner to Jerry, my favorite ice cream makers. Eric and I are just fine.

I think I say Anyway too much on my blog, but seriously after a comment like that, what other segue is there? Anywaaaay.

Now, if I lose ten I’ll be pretty happy and right in the middle of my healthy range. I won’t be as skinny as I was when I got married, but I did have a slightly-starved look back then. Now I’m in favor of the well-fed, can keep up with her kids look. Oh yeah, baby.

Anyway.

Sorry.

I found a diet in Health Magazine and it looks pretty balanced. It’s around 1350 calories of good food per day and a 40 minute simple workout. You choose one breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack per day from a list of options. I like options. I also like that there are takeout options in case you’re stuck out at meal time. The only thing that worries me is the one very small snack per day. I am a big snacker. Hence the need to lose ten pounds. Oh wait! I just noticed, you can eat all the raw veggies you like! *Snort*

I guess I can give up snacking for three weeks if it will get me back into my new clothes. (The ones I bought when I got down to five pounds less than now that will no longer pull up over my hips.) (Apparently five pounds can make a huge difference from one size to the next.) (Who knew?)

Of course, I threw out all my bigger clothes the second they were loose on me. So now I’m stuck with one pair of jeans and I refuse to buy any more in a bigger size. Hence the need to lose ten pounds.

Incidentally, I got this magazine in the mail moments after telling my mom I was going to take 10 weeks to lose the 10 pounds and do it slowly. Losing the weight in 3 weeks isn’t necessary, but it would be nice. And it’s what the article says will happen, so we’ll see. And my mom is used to my spontaneity, so that’s okay. Of course, she might call it flakiness, but hey, either way.

So, the diet. Anyone want to try it with me? The plan is in the current Health Magazine issue with Hillary Duff on the cover. If you really want to try it, and can’t get the magazine in your area, shoot me an email and I’ll email it to you.

I might blog a little about it, but don’t worry, I won’t be posting my food diary. I’m thinking I might even tweet a little about it. If I do, I’ll use the Hastag #10in21, like this:

I’m going to be pretty busy these next couple weeks, so I could use some moral support. My girls have a show coming up which means lots of rehearsals. Oh, and we are moving. Did I mention I’m crazy? However, I am determined to end 2010 at my goal weight. This is the year! Besides, if I wait until things are calm, I will never get around to it. Know what I mean?

To give you all time to get the magazine, I’m going to start Monday. That will also give me time to have a piece of my daughter’s birthday cake, especially since last year I didn’t have any of the cake I spent a day making since I was on a diet. Ahem.

So, Monday. Who’s with me?
